Prestwick Youth Regatta

Two days of moderate to fresh offshore breezes made for an exciting regatta at Prestwick on Sept 4/5. All the major junior and youth classes were there, and Fotoboat acted as one of the regatta sponsors. The event included B fleets for beginners in Toppers and Oppies as well as the main racing fleets. Photos of all classes are in the album. Thanks to Prestwick SC for RIB rides.

Scorpion Nationals

Just received this from the Scorpion Class Association:

"To all at Fotoboat,

We just wanted to say a big thank you for sponsoring our 50th anniversary Nationals at Looe. The event was a huge success thank largely to our sponsors."

I have responded directly but let me say publicly that it was a pleasure to keep up our association with the "Scorps" by coming to Looe this year.  Look out for two spin-offs:

1.  I am going to float the idea of a series of articles on race management teams to be published in a well-known yachting mag, starting with Roger Hocking and his excellent team at Looe;

2.  I think we have enough material for a 2011 Scorpion calendar, so watch this space!

100 Guineas Race

Largs Regatta Week continued mid week with the 100 Guineas Series, with the final race held last night, Thursday. The Largs katabatics were in full swing, and while the rest of the coast had no wind, in Largs the Easterlies were gusting up to 20mph close inshore. Nice sunset too. Thanks to Largs SC for RIB ride.

505 Nationals

The weather at Lyme was fantastic yesterday!  Good breeze, warm sunshine and big waves.  Many thanks to the crews of Lyme RIB and "Sid" RIB (which incidentally was the boat I would have been on had there been any racing at Sidmouth during the three days I was there for the Laser 2000 nationals last week.  I was pleased to see they eventually sailed 7/10 races, but very sorry (and not a little frustrated) not to have taken a single sailing picture.)

What's the French expression for a "good tea-bagging?"

Scottish Windsurfers

Thanks to Tartan Windsurfing Brigade for kind invitation to come and take photos, and to Largs SC for RIB rides.
